Red Cross Miles – Turning Airmiles into Charitable Donations

I’m properly in love with this campaign, and before you ask it is third sector stuff again. What can I say, I’m a glutton for people wanting to make the world a better place.

This has the inspired tagline: ‘people are immune to charity’ and it properly rings true; regardless of the amount of good will and/or claims to the furthering of good causes, people are generally shit at helping those that need it more. There are, of course, those who are amazing but the average is just poor.

Aside from berating peoples’ sense of entitlement, because in fairness it’s simply a system of our western society and I’m sure that I’m guilty of such states of mind at times, the basic premise of turning something that people never use (airmiles) and putting them to use (moving red cross staff around the globe) is truly inspired. Not to mention the social layer and gamification of the campaign and I’m frankly bloody impressed. Here’s the video:
